Anti slip bath products have been around for some time, but always with compromises along the line. Bath mats really do the job but never look attractive, they are easily forgotten and can quickly mould and rot, ripples in acrylics and fibreglass are near invisible but barely work and cheap stick-on solutions are often washed away or ineffective in no time. We wanted to offer our clients something better, and decided to create an ultimate solution we could easily tie into our other services.
Expertise in design
Over 20 years of bath resurfacing, renovations and repairs partnered with decades of health and safety expertise to brainstorm ideas and concepts that fit the product we wanted to create and balanced the extremes already available. Logically our product had to be permanently fixed to the bath enamel, last as long as possible, look nice and provide considerable friction against human feet covered in water, shower gels or bath oils.
We realised that an intelligent mixture of aggregates was a simple and low cost way to create the friction, and that mixing those aggregates into a hard-dry resin would give us the good looks and permanence a bathroom non-slip product needs.
Effective and long lasting
Testing a variety of combinations our anti slip coating was eventually created from an exact mixture of aggregates and resin that resulted in a pure white liquid that dried to a solid bond with any bath enamel. Once dry the anti-slip properties were superb and stayed that way even with heavy use for well over a year.
Further refinements ensured the coatings were easy to clean and simple to apply in a way that fit in with the style of the bath, did not create a mess and would not take all day to do. At installation, we cut a stencil mirroring the shape of the bath and then roller on the white coating that quickly dries to a tidy and even finish that looks like an integral part of the design, and the low-tech approach has helped keep costs surprisingly low.
